Work is either fun or drudgery. It depends on your attitude. I like fun. - Colleen C. Barrett
I take my work seriously and I do my best, but at the same time I want to enjoy what I am doing. That's not to say it's always fun, or that
I'll quit as soon as the going gets tough. It means that if I'm going to do something for the rest of my life I'm going to do something
that I want to do and have a good time while doing it.
Now that being said, I'd like to explain a little about my background.
At a very young age I became interested in computers and would watch my dad work on them.
I would constantly ask questions to find out what he was doing (Looking back I'm still surprised by his patience with me).
When I was 13, my dad brought home a computer from work for me to learn more with.
Months later the computer tragically died and half the power in the basement was
knocked out, because I attempted my first internal computer repair. Oops...
At 14, I saved up enough money working for my dad to buy my first computer. It was a custom
computer that took me (with a
lot of help from my dad) 6 hours to finally put together and get running.
Since then, I have spent the majority of my time working on, breaking, fixing, building, dismantling
(and just about anything else I can think of) my computers. In February 2004 with the help of my dad, I started Right-Click,
a business focused on personal and small business PC repair. In December of 2008 I decided to let Right-Click end and was content
with a day job as a computer technician at the local computer store.
But it was not meant to be. After many phone calls and requests for my personal business
to be started back up I decided it was time to give it another try. This time I started BlueCurtain with the help of a few others and
after only a short time we now have a great team working together to make BlueCurtain a success.
I have currently received an A+ in two College/University courses in computer science and am planning
to continue my studies. My aim is to learn more in the areas of Linux Server Administration, Web Design, and Business Management

Hi,
I moved from Vermont in 2007 and am enjoying my life here in Alberta. I took 1 year in Technical Electronics and
focused on computers, mostly fixing, upgrading hardware, and problem solving with software.
I am also learning more about
HTML for web design. For now, I'll just be happy to come to or check over your computer for you and try to get it back to
the way it was when you first had it, maybe even better.

I've always had a keen interest in computers, tinkering with them since my dad brought
home our first one when I was about 12. My first computer repair was swapping out a broken
3.5 inch floppy disk drive with a new one, only to find out that the shop that had
installed the original one had hot glued it into place!
I rescued a couple of old computers headed to the garbage in high school (a 386 and 486, respectively)
to play around with, and practice some BASIC programming for school projects. The first computer
that I purchased was a pre-built machine from Best Buy in 2002. It was a decent machine at the
time, but the numerous upgrades and repairs I had to make on it over its five year effective life
span were enough to convince me to do all my own work in the future.
More recently, I have built two custom computers for my girlfriend and myself (both of which I
am happy to say are still working very well), and I do all my own troubleshooting and upkeep. I
have helped my family and friends with various tasks, including computer upgrades, networking,
installing software, installing and re-installing operating systems many, many times, and tracking
down and eliminating some fairly persistent viruses.
I've also started taking on some of the Web Design work that has been coming in, allowing me to get
back into programming and use my too-long-dormant creative skills.

Hi, I'm Stephen Rose,
You may ask "What qualifies Stephen to teach me about computers?"
Well, that is exactly what this page is for. I've been using computers for as long as I can remember, starting with video games when I was little.
Eventually my interest in computers delved a little deeper. I learned the different components that make up the inside of a computer,
first how to take them apart, and then how to put them back together. Then I started learning coding, in VisualBasic as well as a few other languages.
With this I learned how programs are put together, and how software works in the computer. After that I got involved in computer repairs,
specifically fixing settings, replacing bad drivers, and anti-virus clean ups which taught me how things can go wrong in a computer.
I also have some experience with photo editing, 3d rendering, and video game design. Suffice to say I do know my way around one of these doo-hickeys.
That is only half the battle. Next up to examination is my teaching experience. Most of my experience comes from my 5 years of being
a Scout Leader. We would bring several kids together, from very different backgrounds, and teach them something new. I found that I am a
translator by nature, very good at being able to translate from one group to another. Friends and family often ask me to help put their computers'
behaviour more in context with terms they can understand. Also I have spent time in retail selling electronics and accessories, during which I
learned what many people do not know about computers, and what they need to know about them.
I know how to use a computer and I know how to teach others how to use them. Come by my class and learn some things about yours.
